All hip replacements will wear out or wear loose at some point, hopefully after about 10 years of service.

The graph shows that on average hip replacement has a 90% change of lasting 10 years. It is encouraging that results are getting better as techniques develop over time. You can see the rate of revision slows after 17 years, this may be because older patients are not active or not fit for surgery.
